Fun Facts about Hamilton, ON

Even though I am a native of Colorado, USA, I still found some interesting facts about Hamilton, Ontario that piqued my interest. For instance:

  • Hamilton’s nickname is “Steeltown.” This is due to the long history the city has within the steel industry.
  • Being a fan of the Botanical Gardens here in Denver, it’s incredible to find out that Hamilton has us beat…by a lot. In fact, Hamilton is home to the largest botanical garden in Canada with some 980 hectares of landscape.
  • In 2015, residents of Hamilton claimed the Guinness Book of World Records title as the highest number of high-fives during a pre-world-cup match! At Tim Hortons Stadium, 7,238 people high-fived each other into history.

With all of the fun that’s available at this WordCamp, it makes me sad that I won’t attend. However, I’m sure that it will be an incredible experience.

Thank you to all of the people who helped bring WordCamp Hamilton 2019 to life. And perhaps next year, I’ll be able to thank you in person.
